Q1 2021 Roundup: Top 5 Word Puzzle Games on iOS in Europe

As the first quarter of 2021 has wrapped up, we're taking a look at how the top 5 word puzzle games have performed on the iOS platform in Europe. This data, provided by Sensor Tower, offers a snapshot of user engagement and app popularity.

Words of Wonders: Crossword, published by Fugo from Turkey, started the year with around 90K downloads in the last week of December 2020 and saw a slight increase to 90K in the first week of January 2021. However, downloads gradually decreased to 70K by the end of March. The game's weekly active users peaked at over 1M in mid-March but saw a slight dip to just above 1M by the end of the quarter. Revenue trends showed a decline from roughly $17K to $12K in the same period.

Another game from publisher Fanatee, Stop - Categories Word Game, kicked off the quarter with approximately 82K downloads but experienced a drop to around 46K by the end of March. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, starting at over 300K and declining to just above 200K. The revenue also followed a downward trajectory from $2K to around $1K.

Wordscapes, by the US-based PeopleFun, Inc., saw its downloads dip from about 61K to 106K, a significant jump in the last week of March. Weekly active users fluctuated, starting at over 200K, dropping slightly, and then rising back to over 200K by the end of March. The revenue showed a decrease from $39K to $36K.

The performance of Words of Wonders: Search, also published by Fugo, revealed a decrease in downloads from 33K to 32K, with a notable spike to 48K in late January. Active users hit a high of nearly 200K in early February before dropping to 160K. The revenue saw a decline from $2K to $1K.

Lastly, CodyCross: Crossword Puzzles, another title from Fanatee, experienced a decrease in downloads from 39K to 22K. Weekly active users started at over 400K but fell to around 335K by the end of March. Revenue trends were also downward, going from approximately $8K to $7K.
